Why a certificate is needed ?
Most products imported to Russia need mandatory certificate called GOST R Certificate of Conformity.
The certification according to Russian GOST R –system is based on laws given on 1991 and 1993: law of consumer protection and law of certification of products and services. These laws are issued in order to supervise the safety of the products used by the consumers. The certification requirement is also based on customs tariff. In addition to customs also other authorities inspect the validity of certificates, for example during the operating approval inspections of machinery.
